National Ireland Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012

Payment
An initial, non-refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. Accepted credit cards are Visa and MasterCard (transaction fee of 1.75% applies).

The balance will be secured directly by the supplier on arrival.

Additional Driver Policy
Additional drivers are charged EUR 8.00 + tax per day per driver. The same age restrictions apply as the main driver. All additional drivers must present their unendorsed full license at the Alamo desk and must sign the rental contract. Only named drivers may drive a Alamo vehicle. A maximum of 4 additional drivers allowed per rental.

Age Requirements
The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 25 years for all cars.  There is no maximum age limit.  Young driver fee is not applicable.

Cross Border Policy
Vehicles cannot be taken out of Ireland.  Cross border is permitted to Northern Ireland.  No additional documents are required; however, a Northern Ireland AAA Cover charge of EUR 30.00 + tax per rental will apply.  Advance notice required at time of reservation for cross border.

License Requirements
All drivers must be in possession of a full-unendorsed driver's license at the time of rental. (Certain minor endorsements may be acceptable, please contact us prior to making reservation).   All drivers must have held a full driver's license for at least 12 months prior to hiring a car and must present themselves with their full-unendorsed driver's license at the pick up location at the time of rental. Minimum driver’s age for all rentals is 25 years at time of collection.  Holders of US, Canadian, Australian and All EU member states are NOT required to supply an International Driving License (IDL). An International Driving License (IDL) is required if your national driver's license is not in Roman script. International driver's licenses MUST BE accompanied by the original domestic license of the driver.
(This is clearly stated on the international license).

One Way Rentals
Domestic one way rentals are permitted between all locations in Ireland and cost EUR 60.00 + tax except for the following:

For all one ways FROM Kerry Airport and Knock Airport (but not vice versa), the drop charge is EUR 75.00 + tax (one ways to Kerry Apt and Knock Apt are EUR 60.00 + tax).
One ways FROM Dublin Airport to Dublin city are free of charge, however FROM Dublin City to Dublin Airport the charge is EUR 30.00 + tax.
One ways between Shannon Airport and Limerick city are free of charge.

There is no minimum rental length.
Domestic one ways must be pre-booked. Available for all car groups.
International one ways are allowed to Northern Ireland (Belfast locations only) and cost EUR 130.00 + tax.
There is no minimum length of rental required. No other international one ways are allowed.

Out of Hours Policy
After hours pickups are available at a cost EUR 35.24 + tax, between certain times only.  Please refer to the location information for further details.
For out of hour returns at Shannon Airport, there is an additional charge of EUR 25.00 + tax to cover the cost of parking in the short term car park and admin costs. This charge is not loaded in the system so will be charged locally at the counter if applicable.

Payment Policy
Acceptable methods of payment are: Visa, Amex, Diners, MasterCard, National Charge Card & National Vouchers.  Cash, Travellers Cheques & Eurocheques are not accepted. The credit card holder must be physically present at time of pickup, named as the lead driver on the rental contract and adhere to all licence requirements. A deposit is required which is held on the credit card until the vehicle is returned as follows: for credit card payments, the deposit is the outstanding excess amounts.  If CDW is declined, the deposit will be a minimum of EUR 5,000. A credit card is always required for the deposit. MasterCard Auto Rental Insurance and Visa Card Auto rental Insurance may allow you to waive the cost of Theft Protection and Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) for rental cars in some countries. This coverage may ONLY be available with certain MasterCard's issued by US banks and some Visa card programs. If you pay for the full rental with your eligible MasterCard card or Visa Card you may be covered for up to $50,000 Auto rental Insurance for your rental without excess. 
This insurance covers the rental vehicle only. This is an insurance program, specific geographic and rental duration restrictions and exclusions apply. We require a written guarantee from the hirer's credit card issuer that the hire car is covered for the duration of the hire. The onus is on the hirer to furnish the rental location with this detail on arrival. We strongly urge clients to seek clarification in respect of the Republic of Ireland in advance of pick up. We reserve the right to refuse third party insurance policies if we are not satisfied of their validity in the Republic of Ireland.  We can not accept Auto Rental Insurance Programs offered by European Banks and/or Credit card institutions.  Please note: There is a Credit Card Coverage Admin Fee of EUR 25.00 + tax applicable when the customer uses their credit card to cover CDW.  A security deposit of EURO 2000 will be held if a customer has an exclusive rate and no credit card cover.

Refuelling Policy
All vehicles are given to clients full of fuel at the start of the rental. A fuel deposit is charged to the client at the start of the rental. The fuel deposit depends on the tank size of the specific vehicle and ranges from Euro 65 + tax for the smallest vehicle to Euro 130 + tax for the largest vehicles. We offer clients two options when returning the vehicle. (1) The client returns the vehicles without refuelling - avoiding the necessity to find a petrol station before returning the vehicle. There is no refund for unused fuel. (2) The client returns the vehicle full of fuel and receives a full fuel refund. If option (2) is chosen clients are required to refuel the vehicle within 5 kms of the return hire station. Proof of fuel purchase in the form of a fuel receipt may be required to be produced at the return location.

Roadside Assistance
In case of Breakdown there is a 24 Hour AA Roadside assistance offered to all clients.  Freephone AA Roadside assistance number provided to each client on arrival.  Customers will be billed for callout charges arising from negligence on the part of the driver, items for which billing will apply are incorrect fuel put into vehicle, keys locked into vehicle or mislaid, wheel changes as a result of a puncture and off-road recovery.  The charge will be E100.00 plus vat which is the cost to Alamo.  For a replacement car, all cases are decided upon on a case by case basis. Where clients are perceived to have been negligent with the hire vehicle they may not automatically get a replacement. In the event of an accident clients are required to contact the nearest branch to them. Clients are also advised not to admit responsibility in any instance. Clients are requested to contact the Irish Police (An Garda Siochana) to report the incident to them. Where possible a replacement vehicle is provided. Each case is decided upon on its own merits by the branch the vehicle was hired from. If the station feel the client is a danger to the general public due to poor driving they retain the right to refuse a replacement vehicle.

Special Equipment
Infant Seat (CSI) 6 months to 3 years (6 to15 kilos) - EUR 6.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of EUR 42.00 + tax. No deposit required.
Toddler Seat (CST) 3 to 5 years (15 to 25 kilos) - EUR 6.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of EUR 42.00 + tax. No deposit required.
Booster Seat (BST) 5 to 8 years (25 to 50 kilos) - EUR 6.00 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of EUR 42.00 + tax. No deposit required.
GPS (Portable) - EUR 8.81 + tax per day, with a maximum charge of EUR 84.00 + tax. A deposit of EUR 200.00 + tax required.
All equipment is on freesale with 12 hours advance notice required except for GPS which requires 24 hours notice.
All equipment is available for all cars/locations & available for one ways.
Renters are required to adhere to the latest EU directives on restraining children in vehicles. The onus is on the renter to make sure children are restrained correctly in the hire vehicle.

Surcharges
Vehicle Licence Fee: EUR 3.59 + tax per day
Airport Fee: EUR 25.00 + tax per rental
Location Surcharge: EUR 25.00 + tax per rental (applicable at Limerick City and Dublin City).
DVLA Charge: EUR 10.00 + tax.  This is a one off admin fee for contacting the DVLA in the UK in the event that a customer does not produce the paper counterpart of the driving licence on collection.  This fee is not loaded in the system and will be charged locally at the counter if applicable.

There is a Credit Card Coverage Admin Fee of EUR 25.00 + tax applicable when the customer uses their credit card to cover CDW.  This charge is not loaded in the system and will be charged locally if applicable.

Barrier free tolling has been introduced on the M50 motorway in Dublin.  This charge has been introduced due to new government legislation and therefore must be applied to all customers who use the toll plaza.  The toll must be paid within 24 hours or the cost will double, with fines for no payment applying thereafter.  While it is the renters' responsibility to pay all tolls, fines etc, the car rental company as the registered owner of the vehicle will receive demands for late payment and fines.
All tolls and administrative charges for the M50 Toll Plaza will be paid by ICR and recharged to the customer accordingly.  The charges are as follows:
1) Toll Fee - EUR 2.50 including tax per pass - this charge applies to any customer passing through the M50 toll plaza. (Paid locally).
2) Admin - EUR 2.40 including tax per transaction - this is an administration charge on the toll charges. (Paid locally)
3) Toll NRD - EUR 10.00 including tax per rental - this is a non-refundable charge which applies to any customer without a credit card in order to process a charge for any tolls incurred during the course of the rental. (Paid locally).

Tax

Insurances & Waivers:
CDW – Collision Damage Waiver
CDW limits your financial liability for damage to the hire vehicle, its parts and accessories, (excludes theft, attempted theft or vandalism), provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. The cover is subject to an insurance excess. Please note: Clients remain responsible for damage to or loss of Tyres, windscreens and glass in all instances. Cost is per day plus VAT.
If CDW is not purchased a minimum deposit of EUR 5,000 will be required and the renter will be fully liable for all costs relating to damage caused to the vehicle during the rental.  Please Note: There is a Credit Card Coverage Admin Fee of EUR 25.00 + tax applicable when the customer uses their credit card to cover CDW.

TP- Theft protection
TP limits your financial liability for loss or theft of the Irish Car Rentals vehicle, its parts and accessories, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. TP does not cover personal items in the vehicle. Please note: Clients remain responsible for damage to or loss of Tyres, windscreens and glass in all instances. Cost is per day plus VAT.
If TP is not purchased a minimum deposit of EUR 5,000 will be required and the renter will be fully liable for the any costs relating to damage/loss incurred in the event of the theft or attempted theft of the vehicle.

Super CDW
Super Collision Damage Waiver can be purchased to remove the insurance excess. SCDW reduces the CDW and TP excess in the event of damage to or loss of the hire vehicle. SCDW is charged at a daily rate based on the hire vehicle. In all instances the excess is reduced to zero in the event of damage to or loss of the hire vehicle. Damage to or loss of tyres, windscreens and glass are also covered except for car group PDAR where tyres are not covered.  Cost is per day plus VAT. For a one day rental, the price will be twice the daily rate (e.g. EUR 30.00, EUR 34.00 or EUR 38.00 + tax depending on car group). For Rentals of 2 or more days, the normal daily amount (EUR 15.00, EUR 17.00 or EUR 19.00 depending on car group) will apply. Please note: only the 2+ day amount will be loaded in the system, so for 1 day rentals the price will be corrected at the counter.

Windscreen Insurance
Windscreen insurance can be purchased, which covers the windscreen, wing mirrors and glass in the event of damage.  Cost is per day plus VAT.

Peace of Mind – Not Available
Master Cover (Protection Plus) - MC
This is an additional coverage available to customers using their credit card to cover CDW.  This covers the cost of towing and damage to the tyres, windscreen, depreciation and vat, all items which may not be covered by credit card insurance.  There is no deductible.  Cost is per day plus VAT.

Third Party Liability
Third Party Liability (TPL) is included in the rates and provides unlimited cover. 
Note: the cost per day for TPL is unbundled from the basic rental cost and will be shown as EUR 2.40 per day.  For all customers who pay directly, it will appear on the rental agreement and for those who have a pre-pay voucher, it will appear on the invoice to the supplier.  THIS IS NOT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE, SIMPLY AN ITEMISATION.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
