Sixt Ireland Rental Terms for travel between 01-Jan-2010 and 31-Dec-2012
General Rental InformationThe renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving licence.
Drivers also need an international driver's licence (except Australia, Canada, EU and USA).
Maximum rental period per rental is 35 days.
Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up!
Age Restrictions
Minimum age in Ireland is 21 and the driver has to be in possession of a valid driving licence for at least 2 years.
Drivers under 25 are eligible to drive at an extra charge of Euro 34.05/day on car groups ECMN, EDMN, ECAN, CCMN, CDMN, CDMR, CWMN, CDAR, CCAR, IDMR, IDAR and IVMR only.
All car groups not listed are not available for young drivers.
Special rental information by booking of Prepaid rates
Changing booking
A booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (on availability) in return for an alteration charge of EUR 20.00. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this alteration leads to a lesser rental cost.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the rental begins. In the event of cancellation, the payment in advance already made towards the rental shall be paid back subject to a cancellation charge, which will be withheld and shall be in the amount of the rental charge (including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
Accident/client fault
Please advice that in the event of a fault-accident, we do not refund unused days.
Conditions of Payment
Flexi-Tariff
We accept all credit cards from internationally recognised credit card companies - such as American Express, Diners Club, Eurocard/Mastercard, Visa.
We accept certain prepaid cards or debit cards (VISA Electron).
We do not accept prepaid Mastercard/payzone cards.
We accept Laser cards and debit cards providing client accepts Excess waiver.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.
Credit card administration fee euro 5.68 per cc transaction.
Prepaid Tariff
The following credit cards are accepted: Eurocard/Mastercard, AmericanExpress Card, VISA Card, Diners Card.
We do not accept any prepaid cards or debit cards (Visa Electron).
The renter must be the owner of the indicated credit card. The authorised driver details and method of payment will be confirmed at reservation stage and cannot be amended. The confirmed credit card should be valid and available for presentation on collection of the vehicle. All extra costs that occur during the car rental will be charged to this credit card.
By booking a prepaid rate, the credit card will be charged before the start of rental, directly with the estimated total amount of rental. The amount that will be charged on your credit card comprises the price of the rental as well as all additional extra fees.
The rental charge (plus any other charges agreed, e.g. exemptions from liability, delivery charges, airport charges etc.) plus Value Added Tax in the statutory amount applicable from time to time must, as a matter of principle, be paid in full for the agreed rental period, i.e. if the vehicle is collected late or returned early there shall be no refund.
Generally
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle excess responsibility.
General Insurance Conditions
Master Card provides an worldwide coverage for loss and damage to the rental car including loss and damage caused by collision of the car with another object or by upset of the car; further: the car rental contract must be paid by an eligible credit card holder, the eligible credit card holder must be in possession of a valid driver's license for the class of rental car or/and the payment must be made in full by an eligible cardholder who has an eligible account.
If the driver is covered by Master Card Rental Insurance, the customer / driver must leave a pre-authorized deposit for EUR 2,500 tocover any damage or loss. If the customer / driver does not have sufficient funds on his/her credit card then the driver must purchase CDW.
Third Party Insurance (TI)
Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with an unlimited cover for personal injuries and material damages.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All insurance cover as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Collision Damage Waiver removes the driver's responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage.
If CDW is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car and he has to bail a deposit of EUR 2,500.-.
If CDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 2,270.00 (SVMR, SVAR, LDAR, PDAR)
EUR 1,702.50 (FVAR, FFAR, FFMR, FVMR, SDAR)
EUR 1,362.00 (all other car groups)
Please note that Excess waiver does not cover damage to windows, wheels, tyres, towing charges or AA Callouts, or damage caused, negligently, wilfully or recklessly.
Theft Protection (TP)
Theft Protection removes the driver's responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.
If TP is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of the car.
If TP is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts:
EUR 2,270.00 (SVMR, SVAR, LDAR, PDAR)
EUR 1,702.50 (FVAR, FFAR, FFMR, FVMR, SDAR)
EUR 1,362.00 (all other car groups)
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
By taking out personal accident insurance coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.
By taking out PAI the limit of liability is:
EUR 63,487.- for death,
EUR 63,487.- for loss of two or more limbs or both eyes or one of each,
EUR 63,487.- Permanent Total Disablement
EUR 1,270.- up to maximum for medical expenses as a result of an accident.

Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
Cross Border Rentals are allowed to the following countries:
Northern Ireland.
A written permission issued by the Sixt branch is mandatory to cross the border.
For the written permission a charge of EUR 34.05 applies.
Premium Location Fee
A Premium location fee of EUR 28.38 occurs for rentals at airport and train stations per month or part thereof.
A Service Fee of EUR 39.73 occurs for rentals at Baggot Street Dublin station for each month or part thereof.
Registration Fee/Road Tax
A Road Tax of EUR 2,27 per day occurs.

Additional Driver

Refuelling Charge
The Prepaid Fuel option may be mandatory for special promotions and specific Tour-Operator-Rates. For details, please compare the respective notes during the booking process and/or conditions of the respective Tour Operator.
Vehicle Cleaning
In case the car requires a special cleaning procedure after returning, a charge of EUR 113,50 will apply.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited. If this is disregarded, a fee of euro 113.50 will be applied.
Toll Charges
Payment for toll charges incurred by car rentals crossing the M50 toll bridge will now be paid by Murrays Sixt and directly charged to the rental. Our entire fleet is registered with eflow and toll charges will be paid on a daily basis. It is important to note that if you cross the M50 Toll Bridge and post pay the toll, you will be charged twice. Murrays Sixt has no way of knowing who has paid tolls. Toll Charge EUR 5.11 (including EUR 2.27 Administration charge).
In case of more than 35 cumulated rental days per driver per year a VAT of 21% will be charged.
All rates are inclusive of VAT (if VAT incurs).
For corporate customers with individual agreements alternative prices and regulations can apply.

The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
